This construction exceeds the steel specs of the identified majority of imported Chinese manufactured “Safes”. Most light gauge steel gun safes have been identified as predominantly 12 gauge steel and less. If you are not familiar with steel specifications the grading of steel becomes thinner as the gauge number increases.
12 gauge is 14% thinner and lighter at 4.47 lbs./square foot than 11 gauge which weighs over 5.1 lbs/sq. ft.
